Reviews for The Sonoma Suites

We moved into Sonoma Suites near 16th St BART this week for a temporary 3-month stay and are very happy so far. The studio is much more spacious than we expected, sparkling clean, and was furnished with everything we need (including furniture, sheets, towels, mops, dish soap, etc) for a temporary stay. Best of all it's just a few minute walk to the BART and convenient to endless restaurants, bars, Mission Dolores Park, Rainbow Co-op, Yoga to the People, Victoria Theater, etc. Some other people mentioned it being noisy, but we've found that once we are inside our apartment that it's pretty quiet and peaceful for being in such an urban place- we hear some occasional car horns and glass recycling in the morning, but we can't hear the clubs or anything like that (I used to live near Union Square, which was much louder). Rent in San Francisco is ridiculous but our studio was pretty on par with or a better deal than the temporary places we found on other websites. We ultimately decided to go with this one because Brittany was so helpful- reliable, answered all our questions really quickly, friendly, and made the move in process so easy (thanks Brittany!).

We reserved a studio on the top floor in the back of the building. The studio was more spacious than I was expecting and it didn't feel cramped for two people. Though the building is right on 16th, our room was extremely quiet (except for someone in the alley sorting through glass bottles from time to time). The furnishings were nice and all basic cookware and bakeware were provided. Also, the location is great. It's in a somewhat grimy part of the neighborhood, yes, but it is close to everything (BART, Rainbow Grocery, Tartine, Four Barrel, burritos, etc.) and it's a great way to get a feel for living in the Mission. We ended up settling in the Lower Haight, but it was definitely fun living at 16th & S Van Ness for awhile! All in all, it was a great temporary stay living arrangement.

We used to rent a studio and then 1 bedroom at Sonoma Apartments (2911 16th st) for around a year and a half. The neighborhood could be better, true, but one should consider that before moving in, right? Apartments themselves were great, we never had any problems with anything. The building management staff - Rebecca, Dolores, Leonard - are very friendly and ready to help one with everything. The place at 2911 16th st. is a good place to consider if you do not want to tie yourself to a place by a contract and prefer to pay month-to-month instead. The neighbors from all over the world come as a bonus.

It is still a great location and decent quality for the price. No significant problems other than a neighbor that constantly smoked weed and smelled up the hallway (my apartment smelled fine).
